Every great institution begins with a dream and we are witness to that.
Some dreams create companies. Others create industries. But only a few create something special that can live across generations.
On Founder's Day, we remember Mr. VG Panneerdas, the remarkable entrepreneur whose vision transformed a modest beginning into one of Tamil Nadu's most iconic business groups. More importantly, he created a place where families could go together, where children could have special moments, where artists found a stage, and where people celebrated life's most biggest moments.
His legacy lives on every single day at VGP Heritage.

Long before the VGP name became synonymous with hospitality, entertainment, real estate, and experiences, there was only a young man who believed that hard work could change his future.
Born in Azhagappapuram near Valliyur, Mr. VG Panneerdas arrived in Chennai with very little but enormous determination. Through years of perseverance, he established his first retail store in 1955, selling clocks and watches before introducing an idea that would revolutionize retail in South India, making everyday products affordable through easy monthly installments.
His philosophy was simple.
Opportunity should never be limited by circumstance.
That belief would go on to shape not just a business, but countless lives.
Mr. Panneerdas was never content with doing what already existed.
He constantly asked one question:
"How can we create something people have never experienced before?"
That mindset led VGP into new frontiers.

He pioneered hire-purchase retailing, developed residential communities, created leisure destinations, introduced unique attractions, and also built destinations that became woven into Chennai's cultural identity. Innovation was always driven by people rather than profit alone.
He believed businesses should create joy.
That philosophy remains deeply rooted in everything we do today.
Ask almost anyone in Chennai about VGP, and chances are they won't first speak about the buildings or businesses.
They'll speak about memories like school excursions, family picnics, beach outings, weekend celebrations, weddings, corporate milestones, birthday parties, concerts.
Those memories represent something extraordinary.
For decades, VGP has been part of people's happiest moments.
That was always the founder's vision. To build experiences worth remembering.
That vision was thoughtfully carried forward by his son, Mr. VGP Rajadas, whose leadership helped preserve our founder's values while guiding the VGP Group into a new era. Second son of the illustrious VG Panneerdas, pioneer and founder of the VGP Group of Companies, VGP Rajadas is an alumnus of Loyola College and LIBA, Chennai, with a bachelor's degree in Commerce and a post-graduate diploma in Business Management. He entered business at the age of 18 and is still going strong today. Inducted into the real estate division of VGP by his father, Rajadas launched several housing layouts successfully in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, alongside managing the consumer durables showrooms in various cities.
Presently he heads the MY VGP Housing division, and has developed VGP Heritage as a brand that takes forward the ideals of VGP: innovation through heritage, combining the best of old and new. A fitness enthusiast, he has participated and won in the Veteran Athletics Championships at 400ms and half marathons. He is also passionate about yoga and travelling. He pens the lyrics of gospel songs and has sung a few himself. He is also the founder of VGP Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organisation that conducts various job oriented courses for the underprivileged women.
With the legacy they've built, we now see his grandson, Mr. Pradeep Rajadas VGP, carrying on the vision, continuing to create and build some of the most unique experiences in the city, all by the beach.
Our heritage venues have become spaces for celebrations. We're doing weddings overlooking the sea, theatre performances inside a restored heritage hall, corporate offsites, live music evenings by the beach, community events celebrating art and culture, you name it. Every experience is rooted in the same philosophy that our founder worked with.
This Founder's Day, we fondly remember Mr. VG Panneerdas with gratitude.
His courage changed industries. His imagination created experiences. His values built a legacy. And his story continues through ours.
