Movies by the Beach at The Beach Terrace: A Unique Outdoor Cinema Experience

At The Beach Terrace, a lot of our experiences are designed to go beyond dining. Set right by the beach, our open-air beachside venue has always been about creating something special. In 2024, we launched Movies by the Beach, a very unique outdoor cinema experience that brought the magic of films straight to the sea, enjoyed by friends and families with diverse age groups.

With the waves in the background, ambient beach lighting, and the clear sky above us, Movies by the Beach made what would be a simple movie night into an fun experience for everyone in Chennai.

Bringing the Magic of Movies to the Shore

This outdoor screening experience had guests seated at our cozy beachside setup with the seating, screen placement, and overall layout designed to ensure a clear view, great sound, and a comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Unlike conventional movie theatres, this concept is a refreshing experience.

Curated Film Selections

The movie screening partner, By The Beach Movie, played a key role in shaping the experiences here, helping us with a curation of diverse and engaging movies in different languages with English and Tamil being the most popular choices. The selection ranged from old classics to crowd-pleasing blockbusters with varying genres that included romance, comedy, adventure, and family favourites.

This variety allowed the concept to appeal to different age groups and audiences, making it ideal for couples, families, friend groups, and movie enthusiasts.

Food, Drinks, and the Complete Experience

What made Movies by the Beach even more special was our integration of food and beverages into the experience. The Beach Terrace had F&B offerings that were included with the movie tickets, as well as menu choices available separately, to ensure guests could enjoy delicious food while watching their favourite movies.

A Concept Ready for the Next Chapter

Having successfully hosted Movies by the Beach in 2024, The Beach Terrace now looks to take this concept forward by collaborating with a premium cinema partner whose experience in cinematic curation and technology, combined with The Beach Terrace’s beachside setting and hospitality, can create a partnership that has the potential to redefine outdoor movie experiences in Chennai.

This opens up opportunities for premium open-air cinema nights, themed movie festivals by the beach, family-friendly movie evenings, and curated dining and movie experiences.
