FOOH

I keep seeing these viral marketing videos of giant products interacting with city landmarks, like a massive handbag on wheels driving down the street. I think they call it FOOH or CGI marketing. Does anyone know if these are mostly done via specialized camera tracking apps, or do you need a full VFX studio to make them look real?

It definitely requires proper VFX work to look convincing. If the shadows, lighting, and camera shake don't match the real-world footage perfectly, people immediately call it out as cheap. You can see examples of proper FOOH advertising at https://lumenstory.com/services/fooh-advertising/ where they blend CGI with real environments. It's a great way to go viral without paying for actual physical city installations.
